Hi all,

Despite all the logging (VKCL4) and converting (vkcl_conv_1_0.exe) programs being perfectly fine with VK70VHF as a call-sign, the VKLogChecker website rejected my log file with an "Invalid callsign" error.

I've contacted Alan VK4SN to see if there's any easy/obvious resolution, but with only a week to go, I am a little worried I've broken things too badly.

I'm keen to hear from anyone I QSO'd with (Kevin, Mark, Sander, Craig and others), if they have had their logs accepted as is, or been told that VK70VHF isn't a valid callsign. Maybe contact me off-list please.

I'm still going to transfer the log info up to the VK70VHF qrz page, coz they're legitmate QSO's there. But I may have caused all my QSO partners to get imperfect logs and lose points, sorry about that.

Cheers, Dave VK6KV

Hi Dave,

I’ve only uploaded my logs to the WIA site and QRZ. QRZ.com didn’t have a problem with it. I doubt the logs have already been processed by WIA’s contest manager. I haven’t used vklogchecker so I don’t know about that.

Hi Sander,

Thanks, that's a useful idea,... when I read the current VHF/UHF contest page, it kind of focussed on the vklogchecker method, but I guess emailing the contest manager is a suitable backup...

Kevin KQ is intending to try the logchecker website method and will let me know how he goes..

And I'll wait until Alan VK4SN gets back to me too... there may be hope for me yet :-)

Cheers, Dave VK6KV

And Alan's just got back to me saying he'll get my log up this weekend and add VK70VHF to the callsign template.

I'm presuming that once he's done that, anyone who has QSOd with me should have no problems either.

Cheers, Dave VK6KV

G'day Dave et al,

I just submitted my log to vklogchecker.com and it was  accepted OK, including the VK70VHF entries.
I had a few issues!:
. The converter program took a while to open on my laptop, but it is a bit slow.
. As per discussion with Dave the "Instruction" screen has to be closed (click "OK") before the program screen will accept any input.
. The "DOS" window (black screen) remains open whilst the program is running.

FYI, I've attached a couple of text files:
VKCL Converter Instructions.txt
(A copy of the "Instructions" screen so you can follow the steps whilst the program is running.)
VKCL Converter EMDRC operation.txt
(The screen output and "drop-down" options within the program.)

The other problems I had were that the logchecker would not accept 2 email addresses separated by semi-colons which I had entered in VKCL; as per it's instructions.
Also, the converter program truncated part of the State-province address and added it to the Postcode field!
     ADDRESS-STATE-PROVINCE: WESTERN AUST
     ADDRESS-POSTALCODE: RALIA
The log checker however, accepted these errors.

It's always a drama to get these logs in; I wonder what surprises we'll have in January!?

Cheers,
es 73,
Kevin,
VK6KQ.
