Field day 2018

Hello, former club member here. Are there any plans for w8upd to participate this year? If so, I’d like to help out. I have an HF radio, portable 10-20m loop, and inverter generator to offer if the club could use some help. I had thought about operating 1E at my house, but if the club is operating I could help.

I too am a W8UPD alum (2004-2009) which would be interested in participating.  The last W8UPD field day was back around 2006 time frame that I remember.

Hi Jason, I didn’t know it had been that long since the club did a field day. Back in the 1990s there was a guy who had an old RV with a big generator parked at the edge of a field where we would set up. Sometime after that I think we tried to get permission from UA to set up on campus but it got nixed. Oh well. Maybe if some other alums wanted to set up a w8upd station somewhere or even operate 1d. I can’t think of a good place that might let us stay for 24 hours and keep a generator going.

We use to use my friends place just passed Montrose on RT 18.  We are welcome to setup with the cfarc falls club.

We can setup at UA or pitch a tent at a park.

I have a trailer that can be used for the radio room.

I think the last time was at UA in the field. That would be easier.

If we'd like to meet up on campus to make Field Day plans, I could meet up this week except Tuesday evening I have something going on.

I don't think the weather will very good.

Looks like rain Friday Saturday and Sunday.

I will stop by but I am not much of an opperator. 

The best thing is to operate out of a trailer or the parking deck. 

Stay under cover. 

Lighting is in the forecast.

I can stop by Friday night to help set-up. 

Let's use this list for the planning.

That is the best for the weather and ability to operate on and off during the event.

If you operate on battery you can get more points.

It's not like we care about getting points to win anything, just getting our station on the air is enough for the event.
