Hi folks,
If you're thinking of spending anywhere near $1k, you might want to
reach out to Wisco International and find out what kind of a price
they will sell the club a StationMaster or Super StationMaster
commercial antenna. Here's a link to their product:
http://www.wiscointl.com/celwave/antennas/uhf/pd201/index.htm
I have been told that they sometimes offer discounts to Ham
organizations, and the fact this is a University Ham organization
may help even more.
You may also want to check with area commercial radio installation
companies and see if they will donate an appropriate antenna that
comes back from a customer during an upgrade or in response to a
performance problem. StationMasters can be repaired and are close
to indestructible. You may have to sign an agreement that you will
never let the antenna get back into commercial service but that
should not be a problem.
Here's one I just found.
http://www.bandccomm.com/ They used to
have an Akron presence, I don't know if they still do or not.
Just a thought. Obviously you will have to coordinate this through
the W8UPD Club adviser and/or the University.

After reading many reviews and comments, I came to the
conclusion that the
Comet GP-9 antenna is the best antenna for the buck to
use as a repeater
antenna. 200$
Now if money want an option we could get the DP420
antenna but their models
run anywhere from 800$-1400$
Just an idea for the spring to optimize performance on
the new DMR
repeater.

Where will the repeater antenna be located?
