Good Morning, CVARC!

At our meeting this past Wednesday, we identified 5 sites that we are considering for field day. We are going to track down the availability of each of the below sites and decide on the location for field day. As a reminder, field day is June 28-29.

Sites under consideration:
  • Memorial Park - Northfield
  • Rumney School - Middlesex
  • Wrightsville Beach
  • Hubbard Park - Montpelier
  • Barre School

At our April meeting, we will discuss strategy and the site. We will also review the rules, assuming they are available (they were not available as of this past Wednesday).

We would also like to know who would come to field day regardless of the selected site. This will help us with planning. Please reply to this thread if you plan to come and which days. More information about setup and logistics will come as we get closer to Field Day.

On another note, the election of officers will occur this month via electronic ballot. Patrick will be sending a ballot out soon.

Hello everyone:

On March 19 the executive committee of CVARC met to discuss our plans for Field Day 2025. After a lengthy discussion, there was a consensus that the focus of our Field Day for this year should be to encourage more members to get on-the-air experience with the support and assistance of some of the more experienced ops.

To this end we propose the following:

The club will use one of our upcoming meetings to introduce all the members to the N3FJP contesting software that we will use during FD.

We will organize an on-the-air opportunity for club members to practice the skills they will need to enjoy the FD operating experience prior to the official FD event.

We will schedule our FD operations in 2-3 hour shifts. The primary operators will be paired with a more experienced operator who will assist with logging and support their efforts in making FD contacts.

We hope that many club members will step forward to try their hands at contesting during FD. Our primary goal this year will be to broaden the base of operators who feel comfortable with a contest environment. Our goal is not to maximize the number of QSO’s; rather, we hope to increase the number of members who can enjoy all aspects of the FD experience
