This Sunday - October 5, 2025 - the Cathedral of St. John the Divine (1047 Amsterdam at 112th St.) holds the Blessing of Animals at The Feast of St. Francis. The service is from 10:30 am to 12:15 pm. All pets and people are welcome to this beloved annual tradition honoring St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of the environment and ecology. The day begins with a worship service at 10:30am, featuring the Procession of the Animals, music by Artist in Residence Paul Winter, Artist in Residence Winter, and dance by Forces of Nature.
The service will also be livestreamed for those wishing to join us from home. The video will be available on this page and on the Cathedral's YouTube channel. Following the service there will be the Fair and Pet Blessings, held rain or shine.
Passes for these events are not required.
Everyone is welcome to participate.
