ROCK RIVER PLAYERS
Rock River Players Premiere The Freeing of Mollie Steimer: the Inspiring Story of a Young Woman Who Stood Up to a Corrupt and Oppressive America … and Did Not Back Down
Twenty-five area performers, designers, and crew are joined by a trio of New York City-based musicians for this timely production co-directed by playwright Patrick Keppel and RRP founder, Annie Landenberger.
Reflecting many of today’s current political controversies and divisions, The Freeing of Mollie Steimer dramatizes the difficulty of maintaining ideals—or even one’s basic humanity—within an utterly corrupt society.
The play’s expressionistic montage of scenes is designed, says Keppel, “to engage and envelop the audience. The lively episodes are woven together by richly-layered instrumental themes and by an improvisatory soundscape."
Suitable for teen audiences and older, performances of The Freeing of Mollie Steimer are August 15, 16, 22 and 23, 7pm; August 17 and 24, 3pm. Admission is $17, $14 for students. Williamsville Hall, 35 Dover Rd., Williamsville is ADA compliant. Post-performance discussion with the company after the Sunday, August 17 matinee.
