Dear West River Friends,

As Ludwig Wittgenstein wrote: “The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.”

If that is true—and we believe it is—then look at how wide our world has grown through the word shared here. Every act begins as language first. The word becomes story, story becomes possibility, and possibility becomes community.

Let’s remember what language made possible:

• Our Country Store as Commons, shared nationally at the Radically Rural conference in Keene—sparking curiosity and admiration for our nonprofit model rooted in an old Vermont store.
• A thrift store transformed—navigable, curated, and kept alive by a steady rotation of caring volunteers.
• A blossoming Artist Loft featuring artwear by three local creators Neptune Chowder, Sacred Hound, and Sew Crazy.
• A $6000 refrigerator fundraiser call answered by the kindness of community—that's you!
• A community connected through small, steady exchanges: food specials, music schedules, new products, and simple acts of staying in touch.
• A #weareyou series, living proof that this story belongs to everyone. A thread that will outlast its creator, as words do.

Never underestimate the word—it’s our quiet connective superpower. The worlds we don’t speak never exist, but the ones we do? They change everything.
