Guys,

I'm assuming the following is more or less decided:

1) there will be a total of 2 fourth gen quads

Following are the proposed specs:
Carbon fibre base plate and motor mounts.
Hollow Carbon rods for arms
3d printed protective dome on top.
4 in 1 quadro esc
4x eMax motors with 9 inch (carbon fibre .?) props ---->verify whether we can go for this motor after thrust test and weight estimate of BOTH structure and electronics.

Flight controller: apm 2.6 with external compass and gps

On board electronics: brushless gimbal and FPV transmitter with go pro.
Will confirm whether FPV camera will go onboard or not  soon.

All the electronics excluding gimbal and go pro should be concealed within the protective cover.

Total payload capacity should according to my estimate be at least 700 gms.
ALL DEVELOPMENT FOR THIS QUAD WILL BE STOPPED AFTR WE HAVE SUCCESFUL WAY POINT NAVIGATION. this will be the default quad for aerial photography.

2) the second fourth gen quad will be an experimental platform for testing intelligent quads. (Hereafter referred to as X-quad) This will have the same specs as above except no protective housing. Instead there should (preferably) be a stack like structure above or below.

Onboard electronics : apm 2.6 with external compass and GPS, Rpi (with rpi camera, USB wifi adapter and power pack)

No GOPRO, FPV OR GIMBAL.

The end goal of this quad (to be completed by December) is to have onboard real time image recognition. The quad must be able to recognize images , terrain mapping autonomously. The image to be recognized will be known pre flight. The quad must locate he terrain and /or image autonomously.

Electronics team, please send a detailed road map regarding the same.

Also, do a weight estimation and volume estimation of the onboard electronics going on board the x-quad and pass the same to vaibhav. Search for cell phone power banks to power the quad.

Cheers
Anirudh
