Share your story in The Natural Farmer

The Natural Farmer (TNF), the newspaper of the Northeast Organic Farming Association, is seeking content for 4 upcoming issues. While all of our issues focus on a theme, we always feature general farming content as well.

Here are the kind of submissions we’re looking for:

  • Interviews

  • Personal essays

  • Technical pieces

  • Photographs

  • Seasonal recipes

  • Book reviews

  • Opinion pieces on trending topics in agriculture

TNF is published quarterly. Our upcoming themes and deadlines are:

  • Fall 2023: Scaling Up/Scaling Back (submissions due Aug 1)

  • Winter 2023: Seeds: Strategies & Stories (submissions due Nov 1)

  • Spring 2024: Farmers of Color (submissions due February 1)

  • Summer 2024: Evolving Markets (submissions due May 1)

Share your story with other farmers, gardeners, and homesteaders across the Northeast and beyond.

We prioritize publishing submissions from People of Color and/or about issues related to land and food justice, anti-racism, and those applicable to growing in the Northeastern US.

Compensation: Compensation is provided if your submission is published as a cover article. All authors published will receive a complimentary annual subscription to TNF.

About TNF: The Natural Farmer covers news of the organic movement nationally and internationally and features stories about farmers, homesteaders and gardeners, especially those from the 7 NOFA member states, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, and Vermont.  TNF is provided to direct subscribers and as a perk to NOFA members and is mailed quarterly to over 6000 homes.
