Dear Devotees and Friends,

Today, on the auspicious birthday of Acharya Adi Shankara, a new issue (#49) of our e-zine, "Chicago Calling," has been published.

This issue opens with the editorial “Sri Ramakrishna Worshipped Across The World” by Swami Ishatmananda, which explores the reverence and devotion he has witnessed in his travels across Europe for Sri Ramakrishna and how Sri Ramakrishna's words inspire people across the globe.

Also in this issue, you will find a wonderful article — “The World Needs Our Spiritual Practice More Than Ever” by Rev. Tessen Stuart Ericksen— on the need for spiritual practice to erase differences and feel loving kindness with all beings. It is followed by “The History Of The Methodist Movement in Chicago,” by David Foster and Vicci Rogers, which covers the origins of Methodism and the movement's history in Chicago.

Also in this issue, you can read the second part, “Pilgrimage Reflections”—an account by Brian VandenBos of his travel through India. As usual, we bring you the next part of our regular feature, “Bhagavata,” by Swami Ishatmananda on the Bhagavata Purana, one of the great sacred texts of Hinduism.

Finally, you'll read a deeply informative and engrossing cover story, “Voyage of Sri Ramakrishna in America,” on the journey of Sri Ramakrishna's message to America, and how it has spread through Vedanta Societies and their various publications.

The printed version of all issues (1 to 49) are now available for pickup from our bookstore.
