Some Reasons Why to Not Choose VU

I’m the student of VU and the things I felt in VU I am going to share.
Bu this doesn’t means that I hate vu but I don’t like VU. This is what
I experienced as a student of VU. So feel free to comment.

Outdated lectures

The main disadvantage of the vu is that the lectures are outdated.
Mostly lectures were recorded in year 1999 and 2000 or may be before.
Technology is moved many many steps forward and we have to learn the
things which our parents had to. VU doesn’t update their lectures and
students have to learn the outdated knowledge. Each university in the
world regularly updates the books and the syllabus but VU you all know
well. 

Outdated software

VU forces to use the old software like MS word 2003 or 2005 and DEV
C++. But the industry has moved too forward to catch by VU. In the
programing the mostly used software is Microsoft visual C++. When we
see in the market we found such software and importantly latest
versions. Thanks God they haven’t asked us to use windows 98. In VU we
have to use old things and technique. Their aim is “Old is Gold”. 

No physical contact

Commonly problem which we all face in VU is no strong contact.
Whenever we faces problem we have to mail them and when they are free
they will reply us. The most of us got the answer in “NO” in their
reply. And even if you go to VU’s Head office campus in Lahore which
is on Raivend Road they will say that stay outside due to security
issues. You will be not allowed to enter in the university which I
think consists on the 10 or 11 rooms and the others belong to Comsats
University. You have to stay on the check post like thing.
Unfortunately I faced it. Hope some one of you had too. 

No strong servers

The worst thing about VU is their old and weak servers. Now a day
their servers are down and we have to wait when they fix them and we
are able to do our work. This way most of missed the assignments
quizzes and GDBs.

Stick with old techniques

Due to old lectures and outdated knowledge we have to stick with the
old techniques. Now the things we are learning in BS are being teaches
in the high schools. Of course you can think about other Masters
courses.
Assignment marking problems
The assignments marking is especially not fare by VU. If you make your
assignments on your own you may get result that “Copied” or something
like that. Or if your answers were correct in many chances you will
not be able to get full marks.

Degree Issue

The VU policy about delivering the degree is that you have to get 2.0+
CGPA to achieve you degree. This is not fare in my views. In VU mostly
such student takes the admission that is weaker in study. If one
student can’t get 2.0 or plus he will not receive any thing from VU to
prove the he was a VU’s student. Don’t think that mine is less than
required, mine is 2.8. Loooooooooooool 
We have to face no day’s news like VU degree is not being accepted by
some organizations. 
And of course there are many many others problems with Vu. We can see
the fee increment. In fact they must not increase the fee because main
reason to increase fee is professor’s demand but they have recorded
lectures and may be they use them till 3010. :P

Exams Problems

Most of us faces problems in the exams. This is the rule of VU that they
will cancel 1 paper of each student. During this exam my CS301 paper
was cancel due their wish. When I asked the reason from the Campus
manager he said that there was problem in the Network. So the network
of the Vu is busy tooooooooooooo. :P

Your feelings are justified. What it boils down to is this, if you can get admission in a better university then you should. Nothing is better than attending than a reputed university full time.

At least Lecture should be updated and software too....

Dears, nothing is complete. if there are flaws in vu, other universities might have flaws also. i agree with u a little bit. u pointed out about gpa should not as high as compare to gpa required for admission. i have a little disagree in this point. i think 2.3 to get degree is good. vu should improve its examination system and paper style should be a little strict. so that job holders should also read and learn the concepts. i think equal or more than 2 gpa can be got just by consulting past papers and ( with "TUKKA" in mcqsz) without reading the books.

I also agree with wasif.
I tell should tell what should be done in these day in universities.I am doing a job in a one  university of pakistan which claim about her self in these word "World Class" university.
But here no lectures should b completed in time after 15 lectures mid sholud be done and after 30 they will take final exam.
There teacher's also use there old lectures those he save from previous years.

worst thing is the software...really true...THERE SHOULD BE Automatic Saving the answer during the PAPER. During long questions, attempeting the last one and the time is running, and u have written the WHOLE ANSWER...but by the time u clicking SAVE...guess what...the time runs out...i mean what the hell...

And litterely have to wait idle for 30 seconds to go to next Question!!! where in the 21st century are v living??? VU is great for jobbers but THEY SERIOUSLY NEED TO IMPROVE THE shitty SOFTWARES/SERVERS/CAMPUS STANDARDS!!! look my campus computer's muddy key-board typing is the most difficult job..;d

hate the VU and affiliated standards....but liked the VU education IDEA.

We learn driving after getting license.

We learn after getting degree.

 

Do you remember what you have learnt in 10th standard.

 

I wish I could have this type of learning in my early classes.

 

I feel a good opportunity for the Pakistani Students in the form VU.

ys this is true recently i face same problem they said NO ..my paper was at 12 feb and i send e.mail to conduct kindly rescheduled my paper this same problem faces my friend so we both send e.mail to conduct at 10 feb he replied to my friend not to me he told me that he did not receive my mail but he receive my friend mail  infect i send both mail to conduct at 10 feb and we have same issue .conduct said NO we cant reschedule paper then we request again and again then at last he agree and rescheduled the paper of my friend not mine reason he gave me that i did not receive your  mail but my Question is if he did not receive my mail then y he replied to me?????this is very unfair is this my fault that he did not receive my mail ?? i call him and said if u did not receive my mail then i can i say but u know this is same issue like my friend then y do not u reschedule my paper like he did to my friend..there must be a physical place which we can go there and can talk face to face to resolve our problems
