Nevermind,  it was Google acting "smart" and blocking the access "due to security concerns".
Problem fixed now.

Hi,

during setup, the test email fails because smtp.google.com could not be 
cennected to.

I can logon to the account on the web, so the userid/password is correct.
Telnet from my machine to smpt.google.com 587 does not give error 
messages, so the network connection works in principle.

I've used the stored configuration from the 1.7.0 I had before 
Mavericks.  Should I reset all settings?

"ERROR:  Oct 05 17:36:13 mbpretiadealain sendEmail[92399]: ERROR => ERROR => SMTP-AUTH: Authentication to smtp.gmail.com:587 failed.

The test email was not sent successfully.  Either this computer does not have a network connection, or the account name and password were not entered correctly."

The account name and password seem to be correct.
