Install problems

hi all,

My iMac has an SSD and the main user folder on a HD.

When installing vuwer I get an error:

file (file "SSD:Users:username:Library:vuwer.applescript") kann nicht in Typ «class fsrf» umgewandelt werden. (-1700)

Any ideas?

If you (or anyone else) is still getting this error, download this beta: http://stumpy.vuse.vanderbilt.edu/vuwerbeta.dmg

Let me know if it resolves the problem. It solved the install problem for another user with a hybrid drive arrangement.

Hi Tim,

tried unsuccessfully to install Vuwer and also used the beta version. I get a successful email (VUWER email test successful at 2015-12-16-122348). But Vuwer doesn't install successfully: error is:

ERROR: Can’t get text item 2 of "

<!DOCTYPE html>

<head>

Installer failed to correctly parse VUWER control string.

ERROR: No control string was found.

Either this computer does not have a network connection, the web page you specified is not correct, or the control string was not entered correctly.

Karl,

I’ve seen this problem before, and in each case it was because the VUWER control page is not publicly viewable. You can see the control page, because your web browser is logged into your Google account. However, VUWER does not have your browser’s privileges.

Try this: log out of your Google account, and then try to view your VUWER control page. I am betting that it will be private, and you won’t be able to view it.

Or, alternatively just send me the web link of your VUWER control page. If I can’t see it, then VUWER won’t be able to see it, either.

Hi Karl,

maybe you should remove the quotes “ from the control string.

I also found that after the last ! in the string there should be 1 space (ASCII 32).

I have to apologize: Operator error!! (i set it up so often that I didn't RTFM....(left the generic string rather than using my own one).

The quotes won’t have any effect. VUWER looks strictly for the characters between the !!!! delimiters.

I have just uploaded a new version of VUWER (1.7.7) that should resolve the installation problems that some people are having with SSDs.
