I just bought a brand new iMac, and VUWER is one of the few things I have installed on it.

Twice now I've come in in the morning and found that my webcam was on. Weird. No other apps running, just the green light on. I went into Activity Monitor and there was only one active process aside from the usual suspects: wacaw. And it was running at 100% of a core. I force quit it, and the webcam light went off.

I'm not sure what this could be attributable, but I'm wondering if it's VUWER? I literally just set up this computer... it's less than a week old, so there's not much third party software on it at all.

Any thoughts appreciated!

VUWER does use wacaw for webcam image capture, so that’s how the application got on your computer.  However, I have had no reports of continuously running webcams, or 100% core usage.

Does VUWER work normally otherwise?  In other words, does it capture screenshots, webcam images, and IP location data?

It is possible that this could be some sort of incompatibility between wacaw and the latest Mac hardware, as well.  Can anyone else confirm this problem?

Yes, VUWER works as expected otherwise. And this doesn't happen consistently. It's only happened twice out of maybe 10 boot ups.

It is a late 2013 27" iMac model.

I’ll do a little research to see if there is a solution that I can recommend.  In the meantime, if anyone else has this issue, please let me know.

One thing to try:  activate stolen mode, and have VUWER take lots of photos.  Does wacaw hang during that process, or does wacaw only get “stuck” during startup?
