Hello VUPS

My name is Dan MacDonald and I am on the board of directors of South Island Disc Golf Society (SIDGS). We are a non-profit group dedicated to promoting the sport of disc golf and securing permanent disc golf courses on southern Vancouver Island. We have been active just over a year now and are making some good progress on securing a sanctioned course in Victoria. We are constantly working on increasing awareness of the severe lack of places to play in our region.

Andrew Knowlton, a VUPS member as well as an SIDGS member suggested that I touch base with the VUPS to discuss options of getting some extra exposure for SIDGS. Andrew mentioned that VUPS has held Ultimate tournaments in which disc golf was also being played. Any extra coverage or support from like-minded organizations would be great.

If the readers of this forum could forward this request to a VUPS board member or committees responsible it would be much appreciated. SIDGS can be contacted via email at SIDG...@gmail.com

Hi Dan,

 

this is great stuff.

 

We used to have an annual tourney (Holli Benjamin did a great job of running it and many others assisted) called Split Disc which was half ulti and have disc golf.  It was out at JDF.

 

Certainly there are many VUPS members who also play some disc golf and I would encourage them to join your group as well.

 

The current VUPS board will certainly see your message and can and should note your contact info so that both groups can keep each other up to date.  Maybe the two secretaries could agree to forward minutes to each other.

 

In any case, I thank-you for updating us and if there is the odd work party to help install a course I think you could work through either this list or the VUPS board to help spread the word.  I will let VUPS clarify this.
