To all,
I know there are several local (Nashville) hams on this message board, so I wanted to post here before I start looking on eBay, eHam, or other sites.
I normally operate QRP with digital modes, and have an ICOM IC-705 that I’ve been very happy with. However, some college friends of mine are planning a regular 40 meter net on SSB, and I’ve learned through trial and error that SSB at 10 W won’t cut it with the limited-space antenna I’ve got.
So now I’m in the market for a used HF rig that can transmit at 100 W. The rig does not require a waterfall or any bells and whistles in terms of digital modes, displays, or interfaces. My IC-705 handles all of that. I have a matched 40 meter antenna, so no built-in tuner is needed. All I really require is a plain vanilla SSB / CW transceiver for those instances when I want to chat with my friends.
If anyone has something to sell, or knows of something to sell, please email me. Otherwise I’ll be hitting the flea market at Xenia this year to see what’s available.
Thanks,
Tim, WA4LLF
