Distance learning in any country is not yet recognized. If registered as a distance learning student in vu your degree will not be acceptable any where in the world.

 

I face this problem in UAE.

 

But I am studying in VU because, to increase my eduction, not increase my degrees.

 

I think 50 degrees weight is almost 1 Kg.

There is no comparison between AIOU and VU... make it clear that online education is fastest growing education system through out the world... there are lot of universities those offering online and on campus education both. and u would wonder to know that online education is more expensive then the on campus education.

I want to add some text from my side.

I am working in an office where the candidates are interviewed for job in front of Senior panel of Officers. I have conducted lot of interviews for lot of Officer level posts....

I have experienced the value of degree....

Believe me nothing. I have seen the dump candidates of well reputed universities...even they have marks but perhaps they cn't present...

The talent can be come anywhere. I have seen the candidates from VU, AIOU, Preston ect; they perfectly speech, having good communication skills even have no very much shining acadmic record. But they replied all questions with full confident and selected. 

Even some says the study, degree is doing all but i have these additional things. the proved themselves. Inta knowledge k bolny k leye time kam tha un k pass....kabi ap lecture sy pahly he topics ko parr kar jao to lecture sunty waqat ap kesa mahsoos karo gy...bas yahi sari baat hay...

there is very Least VALUE of degree but all in ur inside knowledge, skill, broad visioning.... but ap ke degree itna to boly k main b hon...i mean aleast 65-70% marks....

well dear fellows!

I m watching the discussion made above by seniors and juniors, but there is another aspect, that no one had mentioned here.

please for God sake don't compare virtual university with the rest of the universities in the Pakistan.Virtual University was established in 2002 while almost all other  universities  were established before 1980.  despite of the fact that VU  was newcomer among the race of education, it sets its standards and now  after  the time period of just eight years, VU is successful to made its name including in the list of HEC ranking.

Superb VU. I M PROUD TO BE A OF YOU.

I agree with the views of Vaveed Khan. i ilke to share my experience. once i go out for a job and face a pannel. they started doing different questions in english. first i listened  them care fully then i began to answer them and i stayed there for their desired time and became haerd for them. they negotitate with me on salary package. i told them that i earns more than you are offering so i left them saying Khuda Hafiz and they call me many times to meet them and negotiate the salary package but i reject that jaob due to non flexible timing. any organization donot see ur degree thay see you what are you for them.

Vu provide u knowledge no degree now it is your ability how much u learn and make your personality.

I relies that the method of teaching very nice because in my childhood I saw the student in foreign country student they exams like virtual university style there is not cheating every one do their work which he know but here in our country we don read and write and always I think was in our mind we will give money and solve paper.

That is way we have a lot of educated person and only there is some well educated person and our government machinery is not working proper and every where nalay(9) and dalay(10) is working.

Vu is a best way of learning education you should not get education for job.

You should get education for your knowledge and personality if you successes then now body can stop you go for a high position.

I have seen many people which have gotten the degree of MBA and other but they have not manner to talk and confidence.

They become hesitate when they get a job or meeting other one.

When you meet any one with confidence now one check your degree, they ask where u get from education and these are u which bright their institute name.

So I advise your focus should be on study and getting knowledge not evaluate the degree or job.

Pakistan need, our nation need, our religion need well knowledge person.

Process of vu is very nice we can get any time knowledge we cannot say if lecture is off then we can not repeat.

I like vu because It has full control on time resource. it is very nice edge if we miss much time but we can use our full energy and get our goals.

to earn an honest livelihood you should have faith in allah and command on your art i.e, if you are an accountant or  an accounting lecturer you should have command on your subject, if you are a sales man than in this field only sales are counted even today matriculates are area managers. Business need capital to start, accountant job need skill, volume of sales needed to become a sales manager. Degree only a gate pass to appear in an interview nothing more nothing less than it is your interpersonal skills to ehance the lenght of your carreer. This is the whole story of MBA. 

The other side of story is money, 3.5 years of MBA need 83,700/- and you can put this amount in "stock exchange" to gamble and enjoy few weeks or in "national saving certificate" to get monthly Rs 753.30 or purchase prize bonds and wait for lucky draw.

But I would like to share my own opinion (Yes only my own).

"If you have prepared well, studied the available books, material, understood concepts, and you are able to apply those concepts to real work environment. For example,  if you can explain the concepts during the interview or on job environment, then it does not matter at all, from where have you studied"

"I know few instances, AIOU economics students outclassed Punjab Uni students".

But yes, you should try to secure gpa atleast over 3 to make some impression/impact.

Its true that the degree or label matters but it is more important that what you actually can do in practical life. Companies prefer hi fi university's degree but if u not develop urself and couldn't be able to deliver according to the requirement of the company then the label or the degree can't do anything for you and it become useless on that situation.

we have seen so many new students who ask these questions.... Just don't worry ... VU Degree is 100% recognized degree and it has value also... don't be disappointed ....

You should worry about that either you are in VU only for degree or want to gain some knowledge also? ...Let me tell you most of the students are in VU just because they want to get a degree nothing else... they are not knowledge seekers.... That is what we seniors have seen ..

And i want to tell you that in pakistan if you want to get a Govt. Job then there is 80% chance available for  those who has Reference (Sifarish) & 20% chance is available for Merit based but not in this govt.

in private sector there is also need of reference (Sifarish) but Yes there is a limit to this and a large scale jobs are available in Private firms for those who has best knowledge about their subject..and they are expert in their field.... 

Sorry to say here in VU lots of students can't write a single line in English..then what you expect ....do they deserve to be recruited ? ...

I wish studen will not study for the sake of degree only.

 

The truth is there,

 

Distance learning in any country is not yet recognized. If registered as a distance learning student in vu your degree will not be acceptable any where in the world.

 

I face this problem in UAE.

 

But I am studying in VU because, to increase my eduction, not increase my degrees.

 

I think 50 degrees weight is almost 1 Kg.

Sorry guys, though i am a junior among you but i believe i should
share my views and experience.

I really appreciate and agree with the comments of Wasif, Fuad and
Rabia.

In my view, it is we "the students" who make image of the University
for outside world. Interviewer assesses the depth of our knowledge
when we go for a job interview and "how we behave and react" during
process. If we have command over the concepts combined with self
confidence, no one can restrict any of us from securing a good job.

Let me share my experience, I got my first job in 2004 when i was
Intermediate only. The salary was Rs. 2500. In second month it was
3500, after 6 months 5500, after 2 years 8500. Then, after getting
sufficient knowledge of my field (Quality Management) i began looking
for a better opportunity. Appeared in an interview in a multinational
company, impressed the Manager HR and Manager QA during interview and
got the job. Now after 4 years on this job i am doing my B.com. :D

To conclude, it is not your degree which gives you a chance to secure
a job, it is your innate qualities / capabilities and your thirst to
seek knowledge which makes it lot easier to get a better position.

Dear Fellows,

 

VU Degree is valuable and valid. It is recognized from HEC as well. According to Mr. Muhammad Umair's metter regarding (They Can Also Apply), that is true. A company was announced few posts and especially mentioned that VU students are not allowed to apply. VU Administration take action and after few days; company Administration (Who announced the posts) has to apologiz and they announced those posts again and especially mention that VU Students are encourged to apply. 

 

So, relax, happy and enjoy your study with keen interest.
