Perusall at the VU update

Dear Perusall interested at the VU,

We have noticed great interest in using Perusall at the VU. You might have noticed that it is necessary to work on Privacy and Security and organizing support at the VU formally to be able to really proceed using Perusall at scale.

We are in contact with the Perusall company to discuss these matters. We know that they are also in discussion with the UvA and the RUG about these issues. It can take a while (months) before such discussions lead to formal agreements. We want to collaborate with UvA and RUG (and maybe SURF) on this.

So, in the meanwhile, we want to keep on going acquiring knowledge and skill about the platform and the possible educational benefits and scenario's. We are in contact with the RUG (who already have about 50 lecturers use the system) to invite them to the VU to share their  experiences with us also. Most probably we want to have a meeting in 2nd week of April.

At the UvA at the FNWI there are also lecturers who want to start, but also are a bit refrained because of the privacy stuff.

So, we hope to keep momentum but also warn a bit for too hasty steps. If you really have a serious moment/course you would like to experiment with Perusall (stand-alone version for now) for real, please inform me (or the group via a reply to this google group message). We then can learn as much as possible from one another.
