Smooth, over 4” in main body, probably much more. Ice has sunk back to normal elevation so there is no moat, bring traction, all approaches continue to be covered in ice. Cars with studded tires were parking in main boat launch parking lot.

Likely going tomorrow at 8:10 am for an hour.

As always, caution is warranted by rocks near where reservoir narrows before widening at the beach. This was open water at a couple points in the past month and may have been again recently. Did not test it as it was getting dark.

A little more info about the Wrightsville Reservoir conditions. Just a warning that the most hazardous part of skating at Wrightsville appears to me to be the approach to the reservoir when you get to the flat level of the reservoir it seems very safe however there’s about 20 feet or more of Slabs of ice on the inclines going down to the reservoir that make it very hazardous to get down to the water itself. Either sitting down and sliding down to the reservoir or making sure you’re wearing a helmet and ice grippers are recommended after you get to the Reservoir itself, there are very few hazards, including tripping hazards on the main part of the reservoir. The ice is better than orange peels, and the little snow on it provided No resistance today. One more caution that it didn’t seem safe where it got narrow to the north, and there was a change of ice  color.
