Green River Reservoir response and Dead Creek report

In response to the Green River Reservoir query, as of last week it was open water.  Monkton Pond, Lake Iroquois, and Colchester Pond are also open.

 

Dead Creek, however, was glorious.  Thanks to the listserv, several  small groups met up for some lovely skating on the creek and its tributaries where we saw a beaver lodge, coyote scat, and what appeared to be signs of otter.  The ice was probably no more than 3” thick in the main creek and possibly a little more in the tributaries.  Photos and a report of a subsequent exploratory mission will probably be posted later by others.
