Phyl and I had a nice morning skate from Thayer Beach. The recently shared Copernicus satellite photo made the middle appear smoother, kind of score 7-9 orange peel. Indeed it was. We headed out/NW to that darker looking ice, then skated west in the direction of Law Island (visible on far side of the causeway). The ice closer to the shorelines was shallow lumpish amidst level orange peel and small drifts that were only starting to get grabby so we stayed in the smoother central ice. Quite decent conditions.
Bring your microspikes to walk from the parking area to the beach and a short ways out onto the ice.
