S[offord Lake Snow Covered, Not really Skateable

Spofford Lake, which had been reported to be excellent on Saturday, managed to get more snow than the surrounding area over night. We had gotten a dusting and live 16 miles away. But, the Lake got 1-1.5+ inches. That wouldn't necessarily have been a problem, but in the sun today it sublimated and got more dense, and started to stick to the Lake surface. It was like trying to skate through Styrofoam.  And you couldn't see the older drifts and hazzards. We found one small, short lane where you could feel just how good the ice was underneath and actually skate. But, then you'd hit unseen old drift. We didn't last long.
