Greetings Ice Hounds,

As I missed Tuesday and yesterdays skates on GRR I was entertaining the notion of going tomorrow.  Was looking for other interested parties.  I have a friend who lives close who said that not much snow fell there and I'm hoping the breeze blew some of the rest around resulting in some clear ice.  Reach out here if you might be interested.  Thanks and happy skating.

I skated it again today, briefly. It was still great. Definitely more snow than yesterday, but not much. The main body of the reservoir was getting pretty windswept and medium-sized grabby drifts were forming. The more sheltered areas were covered in light dry snow that was easy to skate through, and the ice was consistently good everywhere I went.

Which wasn’t far, see attached track. Also photo from the main of the reservoir, looking north.

The wind was indeed whipping, but I saw basically no clear ice other than patches between the drifts. The few feet surrounding the large cracks in the ice (which were visible yesterday but inconsequential) were slushy tripping hazards today. Maybe frozen tripping hazards tomorrow?

Have fun!

Chris
