I know it can be frustrating to get ice reports when weather is coming in & it will change tonight, but I want to share this early season gem in the Upper Valley for later this week and the future, one of the first to freeze anywhere around here.

Skated 9 miles enjoying wonderful concentric patterns some lightly bumpy after the refreeze this week, still very nice.  About half the pond thick enough; too-thin ice clearly demarcated as new black ice, 1.5" thick (see pic).  The rest snow ice 2.5 and above, one well-healed pressure ridge.  Skateable to the dock of the summer camp & returning along the edge of black ice = same distance as if the full circumference.

Happy skating,
Jo
