Skated from North End lot. Notable Willoughby winds. Fight out. Glide in. Good workout. Did five "laps" out and back.(1/2 mile out before return). No need to take a single stride coming back. Good fun to glide and carve. Snow building up on patches. (Streaks shown in photo are lines of blowing snow. It blew straight and steady from the south.) Mostly smooth ice, but some challenging rough patches to get over while fighting into the wind or being blown back north.

Drive along east side of lake shows fresh new ebony ice, yet no sign of open water near the south end. Based on reports of others in recent days who reported the south end as open water, my guess is this new ice is only a day old. Regarding open water: I only saw the open spots marked on CBO's Willoughby report map from 2/6 posted at 10:56 p.m.

Stay safe. Have fun.
