Symes pond Ryegate Vt

The ice on Symes Pond Was fairly rough this morning .although I could skate everywhere with no tripping hazards. Lumpy windblown slush on top of textured heavy orange peel ice. There were some smooth areas along the shore and in the swamps that were wind protected and fairly nice skating. The ice was thick with the snow ice being around 4 inches and some darker ice that came in later around 3 inches.Obviously thin ice around inflows and outflows. The skating was not fantastic but the scenery was stunning and worth the trip for someone who is into such things.
