27 miles, 5 ponds, and will sleep well tonight! Started with a congenial group of 4 at Reservoir Pond, Dorchester, NH (see 3 photos with skaters and Erzo's earlier trip report ). Two continued on to nearby Cummins Pond, which included a mile-long walk-in.
On to Indian Pond in Orford NH, a small gem, Lake Armington in Piermont, and Upper Baker Pond in Orford. Similar excellent conditions and few hazards on all of these high elevation ponds with very few houses, great swaths of undisturbed shoreline. The last
photo shows a nice place to sit in case any skaters swim this big wide crack in the narrow belt separating the upper and lower parts of Lake Armington, easily land-portaged. Note the attached rusty coffee can to hold your beer!
Here's a GREAT BIG shout-out to Sarah McD for her excellent and timely scouting report of these venues earlier this week... and to all who give back to this skating community with your reports!
Jo 🙂
