Cole's pond Is by far the best ice venue I have
found yet this season, it's a large pond. Don't know the exact acreage but probably at least 30 to 40. It was in the Goldilocks zone and froze almost completely with smooth slightly cloudy 2 inch plus black ice.  There are some pools of thinner, black ice, which is still supportable. Some rough areas around the edges, but pretty much the whole pond is smooth and beautiful besides for a few little bumps here and there.

Just an update, Coles pond  is technically in Walden, Vermont. As I reported the ice was hovering near 2 inches so it will probably be a pretty noisy during the day today if folks choose to skate. The Ice should thicken tonight. there is a public boat launch right off of Kohl's Pond Road but the parking is just in a small unplowed field. You will see tire tracks, near the damn. I'm having technical difficulties with my Maps right now, but I will add a picture of where the parking is later.

Update from this morning (11/21). Ice has thickened slightly overnight, generally ~2 to 2.5". Coves are thinner. Light snow squalls are obscuring the surface. As of 9:15 was still nicely skatable but perhaps don't travel too far for it if you will be disappointed to find it too snowy. Others were getting on the ice as I left so they will probably have more intel later.

Tina and I were the ones getting on the ice as Myles was leaving. It flurries a bit while I was there, but the ice did not get enough snow on it to hinder seeing the ice through the dusting of snow. Changes in ice color, could be seen.
I skated about an hour, and had my fill. I am out of shape, and we were just going over the same area over and over. But it was great to be out on natural ice again!
Thank you Evan for scouting this. I took an altitude reading while there, and will put that in my notes for early ice. This pond is 2197’ above sea level. Now I know to scout this, before Keiser.
