Here is a little more detail with warm fingers.  There is a big piece of good ice in front of North Beach, draw a line from the lighthouse to Rock Point and everything inshore (other than the rubble band) is lovely.  Various surfaces. But all good.  West of that line there is an expanse of dreamy good looking ice, new and smooth, all the way to Juniper Island.  I was alone and lightly equiped so did not scout that.

The ice past the crescent 'margin', towards Juniper, was open water at sunset on Monday.  This morning it was just *barely* beginning to skim and was steaming a bit.  Tonight's forecasted snow is going to disguise and insulate all this, so watch out.

These reports are great. Being on the other side of the state I'm
Interested in traveling but do I assume it's impossible
to plan because of shifting conditions ? Thanks
