Button Bay access to Northwest Bay

Well, since the Charlotte Beach option… drifted away, we decided to try to access safer ice at Northwest Bay with driving to Westport. We started at the Button Bay fishing access, and after a bit of a slog we made it, and were richly rewarded. Amazing ice, with beautiful spiral fractures. We tried to get onto the good ice south of Button Island, but were not excited to cross the wet ridge. On the North side it was the same thing. So we popped off the skates and did a micro-portage over a bit of land just north of Button Island.
