I was able to skate green river reservoir this afternoon after a farm delivery in middlesex . The reservoir is fully frozen with smooth grey ice in the narrow areas and black ice on the main body. There is varying levels of snow over all of the ice, but it could be skated through and was fine for hockey stops.some areas had some slightly grabby drifts. .,some areas just a 1/4” and some areas had a solid 1/2 inch. 2 1/2 thick ice was the thinnest i found beside obvious weak spots.
This place is sublimely beautiful,a crown jewel of the vt state park system. There is also potential for many miles of swamp stream exploring as there are three different beaver stream systems that feed this lake.(you would have to be willing to portage and potentially get wet to explore these areas)
There is the potential for more snow tommorrow afternoon \ evening, that could change things. The parking is limited as the lot is still snowed in.
