This is picture of the lake from today . not sure if surface texture looks to me like it might have a little bit of texture from sleet. Picture from a Facebook page.

Lake Willoughby was amazing this morning, we actually got it without any wind at all for the first half an hour, which is very rare. After that the wind picked up, it was still under 10 miles an hour. The ice is the best it’s been since the first day it formed. Fast, smooth and grippy, quiet, ice.
It may not survive this next weather event, depending on temperatures, so get it while you can.

I’m wondering how it might be tomorrow morning - 2/11 - if the 50% chance of snow tonight doesn’t happen and looking like tonight and tomorrow will be below freezing?

If anyone is skating Willoughby tomorrow, I’d love to join you.

I have secondhand information this morning from a friend that the south end of Lake Willoughby looks like good Skating ice this morning. However, access might be hard as there is a large moat and also some rubble ice on the south end. It sounded like from his description that the north end was not going to be very good skating because it still is trashed out with snow. That is as much as I know right now, if folks wanted to check it out, I might recommend bringing a longboard just in case there is a big mote off the beach on the south end.
