Willing to take a newbie out?

I'm a very experienced (figure) skater and have been lurking on this forum for many years hoping that someday I'd figure out how to get myself out there wild ice skating in more exciting places than, say, the Sea Caves. The past several days I've been drooling over videos I've seen of peoples skating on smooth black ice on Lake Champlain, and decided I just need to pull the trigger, but don't know anyone personally who knows the ropes! Would someone experienced be willing to take me out? I don't have the gear, but I can work on finding what I'd need (or, alternatively, if you or someone you know has things I can borrow, I'd be so grateful--I am happy to wear my figure skates but don't know if that's a bad idea).
