Lake Morey ice trail today, Fairlee, VT

The ice is gorgeous and the clearest i've ever seen it, you can see right down into the cracks that must be 14"+ thick.

The surface is really tracked up though.  if u could lightly zamboni the top to erase the skate tracks it would be as clear and smooth as many of the better places we"ve been skating recently.

Tthat said, there are plenty of potentially blade-grabbing cracks to watch out for.  Careful!

Cherry on top:  there's a huge fun scene out there right now as the frostbite frozen hockey tourney teams & fans arrive & hit the plowed rinks in front of the resort.  my fave today, the women's team from central MA called "homegrown tomatoes."  should be a real norman rockwell scene out there this weekend once they clear the predicted 1-3" snow tonight.
