I found sandwich ice about 3/4 inch over 1” of water with 3 to 4 “ inches of ice below that. I only walked about 20’ from shore at the boatlaunch. 
    This could be good by tommorrow,but I would recommend ample testing . Medium orange peel with a dusting of snow.

Sandwich ice? What a great name. Top and bottom crust with slush between. Is it a slush sandwich?

Yes , a slush sandwich. The slush in between will freeze solid at a faster rate because it is kept cool and still between two ice layers. I forgot to mention that this reservoir is located just north of Montpelier (our wonderful state capital!)
