I have included a track which I shut off to conserve battery so it does not include the end of the rt.
We started at charlotte town beach at 6:30 and headed north will basically no wind . From there made our way to the four brothers islands on generally 3-1/2 " ice . From the four brothers Schuyler island was the next destination. From there because of unstable conditions and thin ice the shoreline or old snow ice was followed for the rest of the day . There is nice 5" black ice from Shuyler to ausauble point along the snow ice. It was necessary to portage ausable point due to thin ice.
More thick black ice was skated to valcour island . At the north point of valcour the crossing was made to providence island. From there the rt south required picking through some rubble and some good black ice. It was necessary to portage apple tree point and long view point to get to Burlington bay. The skate ended at shelburne point which was open water and thin ice.my son who goes to UVM provided a ride back to the car from oak ledge park.
To many highlights to mention all . The last time I skated to the for brothers was 2014 ,I remember traveling over 2' thick ice and pushing my 8 year old son in hockey skates up and over 4' pressure ridges to get there.
