Good morning all,
As others have reported, Mallett's Bay is open water today. Due to a mild comedy of errors involving my mother, a sledgehammer and the Winooski VFW, I drove past Mallett's bay three times over the course of the morning and watched as conditions changed.
On my first drive, Spaulding bay was filled with grey ice while the inner bay near Bayside park was ambiguous. I was unsure whether it was ice or water at first, but I think there was ~300 yards of black ice with water blowing over the top. By my last drive, the inner bay became uniformly open water. Spaulding bay is still grey ice, but I feel it is receding.
So much for my optimism about this week. Hopefully other areas fared better.
