Gas holes ,Waterbury reservoir 1/19

    We had a great skate on Waterbury res. It was my first time there,such a beautiful place. We found two areas with significant gas hole activity.

   One area was near the mouth of Stephenson brook,the other area was near where the little river goes in to the north end of the res.

     Both of these areas had many gas holes large and small ,all actively bubbling.some were open , some were skimmed over.very cool to watch and of course very hazardous to skaters. All surrounded by 5+” ice almost to the edge.
