The main body of kettle Pond, until it starts to narrow, is about 2 inches thick, doing quite a bit of cracking in the sun. There are some thin areas of black ice over shallow rocks, and a few large drain holes that are thin. There is some open water on the pond along the south shore, after the pond narrows and heading to the west ice does cover the whole length of the pond on the north side, but it is very weak in the middle, may be better by tomorrow, but probably still pretty thin. I think tomorrow folks will probably be able to skate the whole length of the pond, but may have to land portage just that middle section , there’s a trail so it’s easy. You can take out at shelter number 14 and put in whenever you see a good spot for it.
