On a hunch and because we were close I made the trip up to check out green river res. I have wanted to skate here for many years.
The main body of the res. Was nothing to write home about 1/4 skate worthy 1/4 double pole and 1/2 snow covered. There were some side walks that were decent as well. My goal was to get to Willey brook.I was well rewarded for the slog by a couple of miles of mostly perfectly smooth narrow swamp streams
with thick ice.
I know this will be snow covered tonight , but they were truly magical and I wanted to let other swamp lovers know the were there. Lots of small beaver dams kept the current slow. I had to turn around due to darkness but there was much more to go according to google earth.
There is nothing quite like the feeling of skating fast and crossing over around the tight corners of a narrow stream running through a beautiful place. It was a good skate to end another great run of skating in the north country.
