Ice prognostication 12/26

   The good news is that there are really good conditions around the region to set up Ice this morning and through the next couple days. The bad news is that some areas are getting a little snow this evening and most areas look like they are going to get a snow to rain to snow event with wind on Monday which is particularly good for making very rough Ice. Besides for the deepest and largest bodies of water, there's a good chance that most of the rest of the open water in vt + nh will catch during this window. For areas that caught this morning that don't get snow this evening, which is the northern areas and some of Maine, there is potential for there to be 3+ inch ice on Sunday morning. Probably a one day only event on smooth ice. If people are out and about today, it would be great to hear reports if they see any newly skimmed areas. Perhaps northern and Central Champlain, Lake Willoughby, Quebec end of memphremagog, Parts of Winnipesaukee, the remaining part of squam etc. if we know that areas have skim today, then people can make plans to skate on Sunday.
