A group of 5 of us skated Mascoma this morning north of the bridge. The south side is not ready. The ice is stunning. Covered in frost flowers and light drifts that can be skated through or around. The snow covers some areas along the edges and on the north end. There is thinner ice to the east of the bouy marking the sandbar where the pressure ridge normally forms. As always give the outlet of the bridge and the dam a wide berth. There was a wind hole in the middle that was marked with an extra dense concentration of frost flowers. The ice is beautiful and 2 + to 3 inches except in the noted areas. Enjoy before the snow.
