The store won Sunday night dropped a lot of snow on some areas and was partially rain in other areas. The results of this is that there is likely many good skating opportunities that may pop up for Wednesday. Before the storm in my area, at least there was ice ranging from a three-quarter inch skim of black ice to well over 4 inches of ice on the highest ponds.
Places that got heavy snow may have some nice slushed out ponds that had thin ice before the snow these pond should be ready by tomorrow morning provided that the ice underneath I had at least seven thickness before the snow fell on it. Places that got rain may have some nice resurfaced ice already. unfortunately, in my area we got about 3/4 of an inch of nuisance snow last night which will make scouting challenging as it fell on top of whatever surface was there and will also slow freezing. It would be great to hear reports from around the region, if people are able to see the surface of any lakes and ponds that are frozen, location, ice texture and a picture would be great. It’s a bonus if you can check thickness but just getting a visual report will help people know where to look.
we will all get to skate a lot more as a community if we put reports on the listserv .
       Happy ice hunting ,Evan
