Hello Skating Friends -

Happy-ish End of Season. One of the main goals of sk802 is to build community within the nordic skating community. During our inaugural season, we got to know each other and discovered many of us actually have interests beyond skating (or skating adjacent).

For those currently on our pilot Signal group, that group will be gone (like the season) to maintain privacy and to keep membership fresh. Last date of that group will be April 18th. This group will start new each season.

To continue this community building during the long off-season, we're launching a sk802 Off-Season Signal group. Same as the seasonal group, it will dissolve when we kick off the new season. The goal of this group is to build a strong community leading into the next season.

In the Off-Season group, community members may meet up to skate on indoor rinks, inline skate on various paths, bike (road, gravel, mtn), and paddle/swim to "scout" the water for future skating. This is still centered around the Burlington area but there is already talk about taking a field trip to the oval at Lake Placid and the F1 circuit in Montreal. Note that Signal meet-ups are not organized by sk802  but by members of the community. All official sk802 events will be communicated in the Google groups.

To join the sk802 Off-Season Signal Group
1. Download the Signal app on your phone: https://signal.org/download/
2. Register yourself on Signal
3. Click on this link to join (and ensure that your username is identifiable)

To maintain a secure and safe space for community members (i.e. prevent spam) each request will be reviewed by an administrator to make sure you're a real person that someone in the community has interacted with (i.e. one degree of separation). If you're outside of that, please join sk802 at one of the upcoming events so we can meet you!

Warmly (pun intended),
Chi, Kitty, and Rob
