Thanks to some good photos from hikers and Emerson aviation, we were able to see that the Broads had caught two days ago. The ice out here is ranging from one and three-quarter to 2 1/8 thick, smooth, gray and smooth black gray. If you have access to those photos that were posted on Facebook, all of the areas that look like they were kind of snow covered are passable but definitely don't go over anything with snow and in general they're not that fun to skate. Ice report more details later. Also today is supposed to get warm and be sunny here. Some of the thinner sections of ice might get pretty weak by midday as they go above freezing since this is not terribly strong ice to begin with so I would not recommend , venturing across the lake in the strong sun.

We managed to skate about 40 miles this morning Skating , most of the Broads across to Wolfboro, to the southern end of Rattlesnake Island, up as far as steamboat Island, and then a little north of timber Island as we went into Meredith Bay. The conditions were definitely deteriorating as we left the ice around 11 with lots of pressure ridges, forming and wet cracks. It's not getting very cold tonight or tomorrow and the wind is picking up for the next couple days. If the current weather forecast holds though Winnie could be a great destination, Thursday and Friday. Also, there is very skateable textured black ice under the snow, there's only a half inch to maybe three-quarter inch of snow that is spotty in most places . This morning, the ice with thin under the snow so we didn't skate it but there's a chance the wind could clear some of it making for more Skating, maybe all the way up to Center harbor and into the top of Meredith Bay and down Alton Bay.
all of those areas are new Ice as of the last couple days . Let's hope for the best, happy skating,Evan
