Just got back from a quick flight to check out some lakes and ponds in the neighborhood:
* Chandler Pond: full ice / snow cover
* Joes Pond: full ice except open in the channels, some open potholes, sketchy
* Keiser Pond: full ice / snow cover / crows munching on something dead
* Ewell's Pond: full ice / snow cover / sketchy along N and NE perimeter
* Harvey's Lake: open
* Martin's Pond: full ice / inconsistent / ridges
* Mud Pond: full ice / snow cover
* Foster Pond: full ice / splotchy surface
* Peacham Pond: full ice / ugly
* Marshfield Reservoir: some open areas / ugly
* Mirror Lake: open
* Forest Lake: open
* East Pond: Remnants
* Nichols Pond: Remnants
* Caspian Lake: open
* Long Pond Greensboro: full ice / snow cover
* Shadow Lake Glover: open
* Parker Pond: full ice / inconsistent cover
* Crystal Lake: open
* Willoughby Lake: open
* Long Pond Westmore: full ice / snow cover
* Seymore Lake: open
* Echo Lake: open
* Job's Pond: full ice / splotchy surface
* Newark Pond: full ice / snow cover
* Center Pond: full ice / snow cover
For today, from what I saw, pick of the litter would be Foster and Job's. Mirror Lake and Forest Lake, both in Woodbury, deserve watching after the storm. Also, East Pond and Nichols... they should be watched to see if the little bit of ice cover clears out in the storm.
Stay safe out there.
