I second this report! 3 of us headed out from West Road yesterday for a great skate all the way to route 17. The dusting of snow let us see the abundant wildlife activity this time of year. Skating conditions were ideal with a very light wind and overcast skies. Areas of concern were still visible under the light snow and in some cases easier to see due to the wet snow on top. Highlights included seeing the story of the birds of prey making catches on this ice (lovely wing prints), the aforementioned deer carcass, a dead beaver, lovely bluebirds along the side creeks, and very interesting ice patterns of what we hypothesize to be the circular patterns of a mouse with a brain parasite who circled until it became someone's meal.
Overall a lovely skate! Thanks for sharing this gem!
