This last week I incorrectly ruled that you must name the ally you are
going to search for with The Summoning @ PRE. I have also been playing
Magic of the Smith with a similar announcement. This is incorrect.

The Summoning (and Magic of the Smith) have already stated the terms
of the search (as required by the rules for announcing an action and
stating the effects). So when playing either cards, you do not have to
declare which card you are going for.

As penance, I will read the rulebook again :)

Magic of the Smith
Cardtype: Action
Cost: 1 blood
Discipline: Thaumaturgy
+1 stealth action.
[tha] Search your library for an equipment card and equip this acting
vampire with it (requirements and cost apply as normal). Shuffle
afterward.
[THA] As above, but this is a +3 stealth action.

The Summoning
Cardtype: Action
Discipline: Presence
+1 stealth action.
[pre] Search your library for an ally or retainer. Show it to all
players and put it in your hand (shuffle and discard afterward).
[PRE] Search your library for an ally. This vampire recruits that ally
(requirements and cost apply as normal). Shuffle afterward.

I thought that was how it worked. Sybil's tongue states that you have
to name a card while the others do not have that stipulation.

By the way, some good games all around on Sunday and one of the
largest attendance we have had at VTES.

Yeah, I was getting a little befuddled with the bevvy of "declare
all effects" clarifications floating around on the newsgroup as of
late.

It was awesome to see some of the old players come back to our tables.
Not having to back oust Jake every game has been a real blessing. :)
