May be not a good day for me with installing software. I am getting a
pop up window when I installed visit on my windows 7 x86_64 which says
File "C:\Users\ppk\Documents\LLNL\Visit2.0.1\vtksys.dll has been
identified as suspicious file of type Sus/Dropper-A.

Also my visit installation stalled at 32 %. Well, I am going to look
at it after a while. :-)

Sorry... I do not have a windows 7 box. Visit 2.0 does work fine from binaries on linux and sometimes compiles out of the box too on fedora (I sometimes had issues with netcdf support, conflict with the fedora netcdf libraries).

Essentially windows thinks that the vtksys.dll is malware. If you got the visit binary from a trusted source and did a checksum on it and are confident it has not been tampered with, you might get away with relaxing your antivirus settings and giving it a second go. No telling what it will do though, might start visit or it might infect your machine... do you feel lucky today :) ?

I also had trouble with Windows Vista. It froze up while running the
virus check & had to reboot, but install worked OK after that.

I have both visit and paraview working ok now in MAC as well as Linux (thanks to you)  at least on my laptops.  May be I will skip visit on Windows and try my luck on Paraview now.  :-)

Well, paraview is ok.  Visit I left it with no configuration and let it complete like that.
