Excursion - Ramakrishna Math, Ponampet, Coorg

Bangalore Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal organizes annual excursion to places of spiritual significance. This year our excursion is planned for 1st & 2nd September 2012 to Ramkrishna Math, Ponnampet, Coorg.

 

Sri Ramakrishna Sharadashrama, Ponnampet located at the picturesque western ghats of Kodagu district of Karnataka. It is now a lovely peaceful Ashrama radiating spiritual emancipation and eternal bliss to thousands of seekers of God in this southern tip of Karnataka. Ashrama is charmed by the neighbouring hills, lush green valleys, evergreen forests, and coffee and cardamom plantations and above all by the loving Kodava people.Swami Nirmalananda a devoted soldier of Swami Vivekananda visited Virajpet in the year 1927. Local devotee Sri Achianda Kalammaiah went and invited the Swami to come to Ponnampet. When Swami Nirmalananda  came to Ponnampet, Sri Kalammaiah offered him this land to build an Ashrama for Sri Ramakrishna. What a noble act on the part of this Kodava gentleman! Foundation was laid in the month of February 1927 and within 6 months a lovely Ashrama had come up. Swami Nirmalanada himself came and dedicated this Ashrama to Sri Gurumaharaj on 10th June 1927.

 

Swami Bodhaswarupanandaji, of Ponnampet Ashram has heartily agreed to host us and might also organize a small spiritual retreat on Sunday morning.

 

Start: Friday August 31, 2012 - 11 pm

Return : Sunday September 2nd, 2012 - Evening after 6 pm

Cost: Approx Rs 1500 (all inclusive)

Transport: KSRTC Bus from Majestic Bus Terminus

For Whom: Men above 18 years. This is not like a vacation and sight seeing trip, only serious seekers are encouraged.

Confirmation: Non Refundable Rs 500 needs to be paid before 15th August to book tickets.
